| Interaction Held Between High Level Task Force and IPs |
 Rep. of Ministries with Task Force Members Click to Enlarge NKKBSUS organized an interaction between Hight Level Task Force and Stakeholders
Nepal Kirat Kulung Bhasa Sanskriti Utthan Sangh(NKKBSUS) has organized a ntional seminar cum interaction porgramme on the issues of enlistment oriented indigenous peoples today on 18th May 2009 in Kathmandu. The programme was organized to interact between the High Level Task Force formed for Reviewing the List of Indigenous Nationalities and with the stakeholders including the representatives of the Focal Point/Person of all the ministries of Nepal government. The programme was conducted under the project of "Advocacy for Rights to Self-identity of Kirat Kulung Community in Nepal" supported by Netherlands Centre for Indigenous Peoples (NCIV).

 C.S.Kulung is delivering a presentation Click to Enlarge On the programme Mr. Chandra Singh Kulung, President of NKKBSUS made a presentation to discuss about - who are the enlistment oriented indigenous nationalities?, bases of demanding the collective identity as indigenous nationalities, the adverse impact of the exclusion, major issues of the enlistment oriented indigenous peoples, historical background of advocacy for formulation of the High Level Task Force and the recommenations to be incorporated by the Task Force, National Human Rights Commission and other Human Rights Organizations, Focal Point of the ministries and the Nepal based Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights(OHCHR) and International Labour Organization (ILO). |

 Constituent Assembly Member Lucky Sherpa Click to Enlarge In response to the discussion Constituent Assembly Member - Ms. Lucky Sherpa expressed that the previous task force had made mistake while identified the list of indigenous nationalities and it needs rectification and suggested to the current Task Force to rectify it. In addition the another Constituent Assembly Member - Ms. Aangdawa Sherpa stressed that the curttent Task Force need to pay attention also to the communities who are not able to organize such program to express their voice and the Task Force has to dare to face the challenges for making justice toward the voiceless peoples. |

Click to Enlarge Anthropologist, Dr. Om Gurung in a position of Coordinator of the Task Force listned the voices of the excluded groups accompanying the presentation and made his remarks. He stated that the presentation has cited ample bases for considering to define, identify and re-scheduling the indigenous nationalities and it will further be opened to receive such constructive input to make the work of the Task Force a scientific and acceptable for maximum number of peoples. |

 Constituent Assembly Member Aangdawa Sherpa Click to Enlarge The programme was commenced by singing a welcome song in Kulung mother language by Kulung youth on their own typical dress Bhangra made up of the thread spinned from Allo (Himalayan Giant Nettle) which is considered a living source of Kulung community. Ms. Kanchan Kulung, Advisor of NKKBSUS as well as the President of Kulu Mimchha Guskham delivered a welcome speech. Similarly Mr. Durgadas Tomochha delivered a vote of thanks. The programme was conducted by Mr. Indra Kulung, the General Secretary of NKKBSUS under the chair of Mr. Chandra Singh Kulung, the President of NKKBSUS. |

The programme was participated by more than 125 persons representing from ministries of the Nepal government, National Foundation for Development of Indigenous Nationalities, Task Force Members, civil societies and indigenous groups. At the end the participants were gossiping that the programme could achive its objective by conducting a meaningful dialogue between responsible agencies/authorities and stakeholders. |
